Nieszawa, 7 kilometers south of Ciechocinek. A ferry. It is said that Vistula River is the broadest here. Beautiful cliff. Cormorants. Dogs, chicken, a small market square. Two grocer's stores, one clothes shop, closed mill. Mr Marek is a chief of local artistic foundation. He has great ambitions and small powers. He is the best freind of Piotr Piotrowski yet he doesn't know about it. Pioitrowski is a peron who can do nothing without help of good people. When pharmacist Wirtz dies, Piotrowski decides to cope with life by himself. He not only tries to survive, but also to make his dreams come true. And nobody wishes him so. Or maybe not...
