Maria is more than eighty years old. She comes from an aristocratic family that declined after the war. She lives humbly off a retirement pension, alone in her studio flat. Maria has a secret admirer whom she teaches French. She seems like an ordinary old lady. Yet nobody knows that Maria regularly plays roulette. In her life there is a secret related to gambling... and diamond necklace.

IZABELA SZYLKO
Graduated form Journalism Institute at the Warsaw University. Awarded scholarship at Media Production Services (1989-90) in London, speciality: directing and television production. During her studies she collaborated with "Film" and "The Warsaw Voice" weekly magazines and "Kino" monthly. She worked for Polish Television as a reporter of "Reporters' Express" and "Reporters of Channel 2 Present" (1991-2001). Author of documentary programs "Roots and Parents" for TVP Channel 3. Author of screenplays for three episodes od "Great Winnings", a TVP series. Since 2001 - an independent producer. She executed a number of documentaries commissioned by United States Agency for International Development (USAID). Author of a suspense novel "Madonna with the Hyacinth."
