Seven
women, seven victims of the system and the events of
December of 1981 whose friendship was born in extreme
circumstances. Ewa, Jola, Marylka, Ela, Ania, Wiesia
and Zosia. All arrested for possesion and distribution
of the "Solidarity" fliers, although the conviction
was justified as an attempt to overthrow the PRL's system.
Harsh sentences that were also supposed to be examples
for others. Ela had gotten a year-and-a-half, Ania three,
Marylka three-and-a-half, Jola four years suspended
for two, Wiesia and Zosia both five, and Ewa ten. A
year more than what the prosecutor had demanded. They
all had gotten out earlier, but the trauma of those
days had scarred them for life, and the absurdity of
living in the communism-tormented country had forced
nearly all of them to immigrate, so their children could
grow up in the absolute peace.
