This self reflexive documentary debut from director Pawel Jozwiak-Rodan, follows Pawel as he attempts to reconnect his father with his father's long estranged daughter of a previous marriage, Agnieszka. Taken to West Germany by her mother at age seven, Agnieszka was isolated from her father and family, becoming a sort of mystery in Pawel's life and compelling him to make this film. A fascinating character study that examines what parenthood really means, Agnieszka Isn't Here also delves into the ethics of documentary filmmaking and the intrusive role documentarians have on their subjects.
