SYNOPSIS:

A pensive documentary that takes a look at the competitive piano world as seen through the International Chopin Piano Competition, an event initiated in 1927 and held every five years since, in Warsaw.  With interviews from past contestants and judges, the film highlights a few particularly controversial contest years, showing the political and cultural climate in Poland throughout the years.  Demonstrating how beautiful music can get mired in personal ambition and corruption, the film asks what is truly gained and lost in holding artistic competitions, and what compels us to do so?
