The
Lenin Steelworks Brass Band was founded in 1953. The
name of the band had to change when Taduesz Sedzimir
became the new patron of the plant and when the steelworks
was taken over by an Indian owner not only the name
but also the band's repertoire had to be partially altered
and the Nowa Huta musicians began to play Asian pieces,
too. The plant privatization was not conducive to the
orchestra development and the new owner arranged a farewell
dinner with the musicians on June 30.
